Eggs and Ham

The craziest thing just happened... my car was just egged as I was driving up 15th street in Columbia Heights. I thought a brick was going through my windshield. Egged - seriously, who does this anymore?

I quickly pulled over to figure out what the hell just happened and I look up and see some kids hanging over the roof of the building I just passed.

And then, a not so crazy, but quite expected thing happened, MPD did nothing... I look over and see a cop in his car about 10 feet away. I walked over and told him what just occurred. He looked up at the building, said, "huh, I should check that out." I then went back to my car, got some windex from my trunk and cleaned off the car. This took about 5 minutes to get it all off. Good old MPD was still just sitting in his car when I pulled off. Seriously, why did I even waste my breath and tell him what happened, when will I learn?

It's not the kind of thing I would have ever reported to the police, but, you know, he was right there! I thought maybe, he may at least give me a shout to the kids to knock it off. But, I guess in D.C. it's fine to throw things at cars. Although, in V.A. if it went in the moving car it would be a "missile" like that McDonald's cup incident. Good to know.

Most D.C. police officers are about as inspiring as a nighttime stroll through Anacostia. In other words, they are almost uniformly depressing.

My car was scraped by a city bus that kept going and then after the cops flagged him down and documented it, they refused to write a ticket... because they thought the bus driver didn't notice. WTF... whether the as*@+le noticed or not doesn't matter, he left the scene of an accident.

I've also tried to have a drunk wait at the police substation on NY and 6th (by NPR) before driving home, but they said they couldn't do anything. Hello, someone is about to commit a crime and they are drunk enough that I can walk them over to a police substation and report them and no one cares!

DC police suck!

anon - Both of those things are outrageous, although, I'm not suprised.
